Once you’ve established your regular savings account with us, you can also open secondary savings accounts for whatever savings needs you may have. Bonds purchased after December 31, 1989 by select members may be tax-exempt when used to:
* Pay tuition and fees at qualified educational institutions
* Make contributions to a qualified state tuition program
Effective January 1, 2008, the annual purchase limit applying to Series EE and Series I savings bonds is $5,000, issue price, for each series. The limit is applied per social security number or taxpayer identification number. For more information, please review the U.S. Treasury news release concerning the purchase limit.
